Deepika Padukone has been signed by Sajid Nadiadwala to play the lead role opposite Akshay Kumar for his next film Houseful to be directed by Sajid Khan. The film will have Riteish Deshmukh, another hero and two more heroines. It is a romantic comedy.

This will be Deepika’s first full-fledged comedy film. After working with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om she will be now do Farah’s brother Sajid’s directorial venture.

Producer Nadiadwala is completing his Kambakkht Ishq, while Deepika and Akshay have been busy with the post production work of Chandini Chowk to China.

This could just turn out to be a reality if the Russians have their way. The Russian belly dancers have been making their presence felt in a big way by being part of events and launch parties. This has been going around for sometime.

At a recently held function the Russian belly dancers wooed the audience with their graceful steps. The fair skin of these ladies, and their shapely tummies had many in the audience thrilled. Some producers present in the audience were eager to get the phone numbers of these Russian beauties. The producers it was later learnt wanted to cast them as item girls in their films.

It is believed that the Russian girls would come a lot cheaper than the present set of item girls, and they would be better dancers also. The special type of belly dance these women perform is very sensuous and erotic, and it is something the Indian audience has not experienced on the big screen.

All this could turnout to be a special attraction to woo audience. Let us wait and watch how these Russians would be a competition to the likes of Mumaith Khan and Rachna Maurya.

Ghajini creates unprecedented records

Aamir Khan’s Ghajini created unprecedented opening records all over the world. This film was opened with 660 paid previews on the evening of 24 December. It was released with over 2000 prints all over the world and garnered a gross of 32 crores on the day one. Ghajini’s opening day collections were 2/3 times bigger than the collections of Singh is Kingg (14 crores on day one) and Rab Ne Baba Di Jodi (11 crores on day one). The impeccable track record of Aamir Khan delivering quality cinema and the marketing blitz by Geeta Arts guaranteed such an opening.

It hurts Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty is so excited after bagging her first Indo-China venture that she hasn’t stopped practising dance for the film. Yes, she’s required to show her oomph and dancing skills in Desire. “Shilpa wanted to start taking lessons much earlier, but then she hurt her foot. The gash was deep and long. She got 15 stitches, and will be able to resume her Odissi dance lessons only once she recovers completely.” Hopefully NRI beau Raj Kundra is taking good care of his lady love.

Ghajini - Movie Review

Ghajini is an out and out revenge saga. But the director has tried to amalgamate the riveting revenge story with a soft romance between the two protagonists, Sanjay and Kalpana, played by Aamir Khan and Asin.

Sanjay Singhania is a very rich man with a flourishing business. One fine day, in order to promote his venture, he decides to display a board on Kalpana's roof top, much to her anger. Sanjay's business manager comes and requests Kalpana to allow them to display the board. She rejects the offer. But her commercial director (she works as an extra in the advertising world) overhears the conversation and presumes that Asin has refused Sanjay's love offer. How he tells her to accept the offer and how the intriguing romance blossoms between Kalpana and Sanjay form the crux of the story.

But the violent murder of his girlfriend sets off an acute short term memory loss in Sanjay. How he works around the handicap to reach her murderers is the rest of the story. Hindi movies have often depicted people suffering from memory loss, but in Ghajini the protagonist recalls events only for 15 minutes. And the manner in which he works to regain his memory has been depicted meticulously and very differently. He keeps writing the time, name and dates of clues about the killers as when he remembers them. He also carries a Polaroid to keep him updated in case he forgets.

The film is three hours long and the good versus evil theme is something we've seen many a time in Bollywood films, but each scene of the film is so gripping that never once do we feel bored. The story has been told in such a novel way with so many twists and turns that it keeps the audiences on the edge of their seats guessing what would come up next.

Director AR Murugadoss has tried to de-route Ghajini when compared to the Tamil version. The climax is different from the original. He cleverly weaves in the past and the present.

Performance wise, this is completely an Aamir Khan movie. He has done a brilliant job as usual. He hardly talks. It's his facial expressions and body language that do all the talking. His leading lady Asin has put up a sterling performance, so has the villain, Pradeep Singh Rawat.

Ravi Chandran's cinematography is excellent and AR Rahman's music is top-notch.

All in all Ghajini is a refreshing change. The film does not have a happy ending as both lovers do not get united in the end. Although this concept has never been approved by the Indian audiences, but Ghajini is sure to change that for the sheer brilliance of the movie. To sum up, Ghajini has everything to turn it a blockbuster hit. This one's a must watch!

Ghazini Cut For All

There could be various promotions for a film but the Ghazini team seems to have come up with a unique idea. They had selected about 100 people working in a mall and asked them all to get the Ghazini hair cut.

All these 100 were introduced to Amir Khan and they all had a grand photo session. The unique hairstyle is already a rage in the country.

The 100 people were expected to sport this style till the release of the film. Amir Khan on the other hand said that he was not very excited about the release of the film after the recent Bombay blasts and this release would be a sober one and in remembrance of the victims of the blast.

The parents of both Bhargavi in Guntur and Bujji in Nellore are drowned in huge grief and shocked. They are talking to media with loud weep. The parents of both sides are condemning the marriage news. They say that they were never married as per their knowledge. Bhargavi's mother said that her daughter called her for last time in the early morning at 6 AM stating that's he got ready for the shooting. Her death news has come to light through media at around 11 AM.
