'Robo' Switches In Aish's Hands

Want a taste of woman power? There is ample of it available in the film industry. Aishwarya Rai has signed two films in the recent past. One a film 'Ravana' with Mani Rathnam opposite hubby Abhishek Bachchan and the other film Robo with Rajnikanth and Shankar.

The shooting schedules for the Mani Rathnam film were all scheduled in the picturesque Kerala and those of Robo in the even more striking Himalayas. Ash was finding it difficult running and maintaining schedules for both the films and so what does she do? She requested Robo director Shankar to relocate shooting schedules to Kerala.

With Rajni's consent all the shooting schedules for Robo also have shifted to Kerala. Now we know who controls the switches of the Robo and what woman power is?

Cong, TD make Chiru show a success!

Why was the road show of Praja Rajyam party in Kadapa district such a mega success? According to observers, both the Congress and the Telugu Desam were responsible for the success of Chiranjeevi's road shows. The Congress has created a sort of sympathy wave for Chiranjeevi by creating nuisance at Pulivendula and obstructing his campaign. The PRP leaders and activists did not react wildly, but registered their protest in peaceful manner. The people, who learnt about through media, thronged in large numbers to see him. Even the Congress workers, holding black flags, were very curious to listen to his words. And he made quite an impressive speech. Secondly, the TD, too, was responsible for the success. The TD cadres in large numbers attended Chiru's road show only to embarrass YSR. It is a different matter that most of them turned instant fans of Chiru and may even jump the fence into PRP!

It is weekend time and now there are two new movies that are gearing up to entertain the crowds on the eve of the Childrens day ie the 14th of November. Both movies have their own significance given the people involved and here are few details of the flicks that are coming for your entertainment.

The first one happens to be 'Surya S/o Krishnan' starring hot star Suriya of 'Ghajini' fame and he is flanked by three beauties in the form of Simran, Sameera Reddy and Divya Spandana. This is being directed by the ace filmmaker Gautam Menon and it is a dubbed version of the Tamil movie 'Vaaranam Aayiram'.

Secondly, there is 'Avakaya Biryani' that marks the debut of many folks but then the good side of this is, all of them come from the camp of the highly gifted Sekhar Kammula. Starring Kamal and Bindu Madhavi in the lead, the movie is being directed by debutante Anish Kuruvilla and the music is composed by another talented debutante Manikant Khadri. Good luck to both movies and let the deserving flicks get more fortunes.

Bipasha’s sudden exit from Kashmir baffles ‘Lamhaa’ unit

"Chaotic" is how producer Bunty Walia describes the situation at Kashmir after Bipasha Basu’s abrupt departure, just hours before Sanjay Dutt landed in Srinagar to start shooting with her for "Lamhaa".

"We can’t understand what happened, and why she left suddenly when Friday onwards things were going smoothly. I also can’t understand how she managed to get back to the hotel from the location in Anantnag, pack all her luggage and leave in 15 minutes. But we’re sure she had her reasons. And we’re fully convinced she’ll join us in Manali where we’re now going to shoot the action scenes," Walia told IANS.

On Wednesday, a mob surrounded the unit filming a scene with Bipasha, who plays the role of a Kashmiri girl. They wanted the film’s shooting to be stopped. Though the situation improved Friday, Bipasha left Saturday. The cast and crew of "Lamhaa" seemed crushed by her departure.

"They don’t know what hit them. The morale in our unit is pretty low. Sanjay Dutt, who landed here to start work immediately, is suddenly at a loose end. He’s taking an impromptu holiday right now," Wallia said.

The film is being directed by Rahul Dholakia and the unit now plans to move to Manali from Srinagar where the topography is similar.

"We’re going to shoot only the action scenes there," said Dholakia. "We don’t know what happened with Bipasha because she has told us nothing. She seemed fine in the morning. Suddenly we heard she had left. I suppose a film on the making of ’Lamhaa’ would be as interesting as the film itself, though we’ve no footage of Bipasha leaving Srinagar."

The unit plans to return to Srinagar Jan 4-11 to shoot vital scenes after the main shooting happens on a set in Film City in Mumbai.

"I’m sure Bipasha would return to Srinagar in January and complete the unfinished work," Walia said.

Meanwhile Sanjay left for Delhi and will be proceeding to shoot in Manali Nov 12.

Shilpa Shetty and John Abraham’s Shut Up And Bounce song in Dostana is the hottest track these days. But what no-one knows is that Shilpa fell and almost bounced while shooting the song in Miami.

John had applied so much sunblock on his body that Shilpa who had to put her arms around him kept slipping and falling!

Prelude to a fall

Director Tarun Mansukhani says, "We all put on lots of sun block on because it was sunny and we didn’t want to tan too much. One day, John put on so much sunblock that in the shot where he’s taking pictures of Shilpa on the bike, Shilpa couldn’t put her arms around him. She kept slipping and falling!" John plays a photographer in Dostana.

Shilpa giggles, "John had so much oil on him and every time I put my hand on his abs I would fall! I literally fell for John! I slipped and ended on my knees every time because he was chikna and slippery. Finally, I told him to wipe off some off the oil. But I’ve never seen anyone looking so hot as John! I would keep telling him ‘John, please go away you look so good that nobody’s looking at me. John’s got the hottest body!"

And what does John think of her body? Shilpa grins naughtily, "Well you just have to ask John that. We would work out a lot together at the same gym which was in the Miami hotel where we were staying. John had his own trainer and I would do my yoga exercises but John would keep popping in and asking how I was doing. We got along very well."

Shocking daddy

Shilpa’s very happy with the reactions she’s getting for the song. "People have been telling me they like my hot look. Raj (Kundra) said he loved it when he saw it the first time but my father initially was a bit shocked. He has never seen me wearing so little clothes, I guess," Shilpa laughs and adds, "He looked at the song, looked away and then back again but never said anything."

Telugu Desam Party sounds election bugle

NTR PRANGANAM (GUNTUR): Telugu Desam Party sounded the election bugle through its mammoth ‘Yuva Garjana’ held here on Wednesday, which also signalled the formal entry of filmstar and N.T. Rama Rao’s son Nandamuri Balakrishna into politics here on Wednesday.

The meet which witnessed a near-stampede situation in the enclosures surrounding the dais was also used by the party to unveil its youth policy named ‘YES’ (Youth Empowerment Scheme).

Rs. 50,000 crore

The scheme envisages several measures to provide jobs for the youth through allocation of Rs. 50,000 crore over a period of five years.

Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu who announced the scheme said that a separate ministry would be created to implement it.

Slew of sops announced at the meeting include loans at 10 paise interest rate, an unemployment allowance of Rs.1,000 per month to the unemployed, and free education for poor students among the forward castes.

Describing youth as a political powerhouse, he said positive change could come only through their involvement and expressed satisfaction over support from the youth to the party at a time when some defectors deserted it.

He also announced a Rs. 500-crore budget for the minorities with a 5 per cent reservation for Muslims if Telugu Desam Party returned to power.

On Telangana, he said the party would go as per the sentiments of the people and not force its decision on them.

Whenever the name of Nandamuri clan was invoked it met with rapturous response from the teeming crowds, who repeatedly cheered Mr. Balakrishna during the course of his address.

Mr. Balakrishna declared that he was taking up this political responsibility unable to tolerate the present situation in the State and gave a call to the youth to throw out the “corrupt Congress”.

He said his services would be available to the party and recalled that N.T. Rama Rao had given preference to the honest and efficient youth to enter the portals of Assembly.

Lashing out at the Congress, Mr. Balakrishna said when N.T. Rama Rao was in power he never encouraged nepotism.

The Congress rule was marked by atrocities on women, corruption, rowdyism, and terrorism.

“People today live in constant fear wondering when and where a bomb will explode,” Mr. Balakrishna quipped .

NTR’s ideals

Harikrishna described the fight for power between Congress and Telugu Desam Party as the one between “adharma and dharma” and asserted that the Nandamuri clan would seek people’s mandate for upholding N.T. Rama Rao’s ideals for Telugu people.

Cine stars Kalyanram and Tarakaratna were also present on the dais adding colour to the event being described by party people as a clear indicator for their wresting power in 2009 Assembly elections.

A photograph of N. Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister and Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as Leader of Opposition at the 125th year celebrations of The Hindu, drew appreciation from people at an exhibition put up by the Telugu Desam Party at the venue of the Yuva Garjana.

Hansika’s cameo in Telugu version of Billa

Don was the cult hit of the 1960’s in which Amitabh Bachchan starred as the poor but honest hero masquerading as the evil don. The film proved to be a super duper hit and it was remade in Tamil as Billa and Rajinikanth set the style standard for that era with polka dotted waistcoat and superlative bell bottoms.

Fast forward to the present and in 2007, Billa was remade in Tamil with Ajith as the style statement for the 21st century. Nayantara’s role, inspired by Angelina Jolie’s look in Tomb Raider, took her to dizzying heights of stardom. It was dubbed in Telugu with gratifying results as it stormed the box-office in spite of being a Tamil flick dubbed in Telugu.

Now Prabhas is acting in a Telugu film based on Billa’s script, Meher Ramesh is directing it with Anushka essaying Nayantara’s role, complete with bikini. Namitha is doing the same role that she did in the Tamil version. Krishnam Raju has a very special role.

Prabhas’ brother, Prabodh and Narendra are producing it under Gopi Krishna Movies banner. Meher Ramesh made his directorial debut in Kantri starring Junior NTR. Hansika Motwani, who was the heroine in Kantri, has a cameo in this untitled Telugu version of Billa

Nithin is now in Mahesh Babu’s place

Paruchuri Murali is recognized as a good director by his films ’Andhrudu’ and ’Peddababu’. Starring Nithin and Illeana as hero and heroines, a film is currently in the making on Spectra Creations banner, in his direction.

Nithin after his one more stylish portrayal in ‘Hero’ is now in a movie directed by Paruchuri Murali. The director was widely acclaimed for his earlier films ‘Andhrudu’ and ‘Peddababu’. Now he is directing Nithin who shares screen space with pretty damsel Ileana on Spectra Creations banner.

Launched on October 9 during Dussera, it was expected that the movie will begin from the 3rd of this month. The delay was not long as it was started a day after on 4th but the news that kindles interest is, Athadu’s set is the shooting spot for this movie.

A fake house was erected earlier at Nanakramguda for the Mahesh Babu starrer ‘Athadu’ which was blockbuster hit of the year 2005. Now important scenes are being canned at the same location for the Nithin’s movie.

As ‘Athadu’ became a box office smash and acclaimed quite a few awards, it is being believed that the place will bring good luck for this flick too.

Politics only after Robot : Rajnikant

Chennai, Nov 3 Tamil thespian Rajnikant Monday ruled out a political career for himself till further notice.

'I will take a serious look at a possible political future only after the release of my forthcoming film 'Robot' ('Enthiran' in Tamil) and not before,' Rajnikant said during an interaction with his fan club mainstays here.

Though no release schedule has been announced so far, the movie is expected to be screened only 2010.

'Capability, hard work and keen intellect are not enough to make a successful political career. Circumstances play a major part. Further, while nobody can force me into jumping into politics, nobody can prevent me from taking the plunge either,' the film star said.

'Like a forced marriage will not do a couple any good, forcing a political career on me when I am not ready will not work either. Though the nation's present political climate is not conducive for any constructive activity, I, however, do not rule out anything. I am always guided by god and my conscience,' Rajnikant asserted.

Rajnikant denied that he had ever apologised unconditionally to hooligans in Karnataka.

'I said something a few months back to pacify people in Karnataka because the situation so demanded. Since Tamil cinema assets are always attacked by those jealous of their reception in that state, I made strong remarks on the assaults in Bangalore. After all, I am human. However, my stand on violence is well known and has never been compromised,' Rajnikant added.

Rajnikant's interaction was conducted in a marriage hall in the southern part of the city in the form of a catechism - after fans raised relevant queries.

Ten main functionaries of fan clubs from each district participated strictly by invitation.

The venue was under heavy police and private security guard.

The matinee idol avoided direct comment against some of his fan clubs' functionaries who started a political party in Coimbatore district a few weeks ago. The party features a picture of the actor in its flag.

I love Abhishek Bachchan:John Abraham

Mumbai, Nov 3 After 'Dhoom', John Abraham teams up with Abhishek Bachchan once again in 'Dostana' and says they have developed such an incredible rapport that he simply dotes on his co-star.

'Abhishek is not a co-star or a colleague. He's a friend. I dote on him. I love him to death. We never compete. We complement each other in 'Dostana'. We share a great chemistry. Abhishek and I are a couple in the film,' John told IANS.

Abhishek added: 'It was wonderful to shoot with John again after 'Dhoom'. It was fun on the sets because we were all friends.'

John and Abhishek, who get along like a house on fire on the sets of 'Dostana', regret that they had to shoot the 'Maa da ladla' music video for the movie separately.

The film is being produced by Karan Johar and is being directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

Mansukhani said it was a conscious decision to have Abhishek and John shoot the song separately.

'They shot individually so the masti of the rest of the movie was missing on the sets. But I deliberately didn't shoot the song with John and Abhishek together. I wanted at least this one song to look different from the rest of the film where they're constantly together, fooling around and chumming it up. This is a music video which we'll use for promotion and probably for the end titles,' Mansukhani said.

'The last shoot before this was for the song 'Desi girl' where all of us were together. It was so much fun,' he added.

'Maa da ladla' was shot Oct 15-17 at Filmistan Studios when producer Karan Johar was away in Los Angeles, location hunting for his next directorial venture.

'I left the song entirely to my director and to the choreographer Feroz (Farah Khan's assistant for 10 years),' Karan said.

While Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead in the film that releases Nov 14, leggy lass Bipasha Basu makes a special appearance in the movie in a song sequence.
